No canal beats the Llangollen Canal for architectural splendour, with locks largely substituted by more ingenious methods of navigating the contours - cuttings, tunnels, embankments and of course the two outstanding Thomas Telford aqueducts. The stunning scenery is complemented by peaceful, easy cruising with very few locks to work.
